Waxed Leaves!

Our 4 Winds lesson today included leaf study. Ask your child about the special name for the stem of a leaf(petiole). We also learned about teeth and lobes on leaves. Thanks to Jen, Tiffany and Beth for all of their help! We dipped some leaves in wax to preserve them. Check your child's green folder for this special leaf.

Pajama Day

Our class is having pajama day tomorrow, Thursday, October 28th! By working together, caring for each other and following classroom rules, the class earned enough "warm fuzzies' to fill the jar. A special day was decided upon. Pajama day should be lots of fun!

A Visitor and Her Violin

We had a second grader visit our class with her violin today. She was able to describe the parts of the violin, and show how it is played with a bow. She also played a "Spooky Story" for the class. Many interesting sounds were demonstrated with this song. Ask your child about the creaky doors, or the mice. At the end, the entire class joined in for a few verse of "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star." Many thanks to our special visitor. We hope she will come back again.

Change in Nature Adventure Program

We will be going on our Nature Adventure Program next Monday, October 18th.

We were originally scheduled for Friday the 15th, and the  weather forecast is looking wet(again). Very strong rains are predicted. Rather than spend another session in pouring rain, we have decided to move our date to Monday. Please help your child dress warmly, with sturdy footwear. We are headed to Harrison field, and will also be in the forest. Mrs. Cate will join us from north Branch Nature Center!!

Please contact me with any questions or comments. 225-8220

Kindergarten Conference Confirmation

Keep an eye out for confirmation slips for kindergarten parent/teacher conferences. Confirmation slips will be put into green folders tomorrow.I was able to accommodate most requests, and tried to keep times close. Please let me know as soon as possible if your time will not work. I know we can find a time together. I look forward to seeing you soon, and discussing your child's progress. Remember, these first conferences are not student led.
